Dookudu is one of the biggest hits in the career of Mahesh Babu. Though the film is not having a strong grip on story but the comedy geared up the film to success which helped Mahesh Babu to overcome the burden of continuous failures from Sainikudu to Mahesh Khaleja. Mahesh has never tried this genre of acting he often admitted that he is afraid to do because he thought that it won't fit to him,later under the guidance of ace director Trivikram Mahesh decided to dare to do this experimentation of comedy genre play role in his films from Mahesh Khaleja.
Los Angels Times wrote an article about Dookudu stating : 'Dookudu,' the biggest hit you've never heard of. During the release of film Dookudu Hollywood.com didn't even received weekend tallies from the distributors.14 reels distributor Harish sajja commented that its a miracle,nobody has ever thought that the film would cross over like that.
