Tamil Actress Maya was protesting after former Tamil Nadu chief minister was jailed for corruption.Yesterday she attempted suicide in front of Police commissioner's office in chennai.
A police official said-" Maya had come along with her daughter and a can of kerosene. Both tried to self immolate themselves, but they were luckily stopped by the officials on duty."
The AIADMK leader was convicted and sentenced to four years and fined Rs1 billion (Dh0.06 billion) for corruption by a special court here on September 27.
Maya and her daughter were subsequently taken into custody and questioned
