Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton has said that despite moving into his biggest lead so far this season, nothing has changed and he admitted that he has to keep fighting and pushing as hard as he has been until now.
Hamilton said that he does not feel in control of the world championship fight yet. He moved 17 points clear of Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg with his ninth win of the season on Sunday.
Hamilton said that it is very positive to have the points and be finishing ahead of Rosberg but added that history's shown this year that the gap can never be enough. He said that the most important thing is what the gap is at the end of the year, The BBC reported.
Hamilton's caution is rooted in his experiences so far this season, in which he has three times had to make up a deficit of points as a result of reliability problems.
Hamilton has grabbed nine wins this season compares to Rosberg's four, but the Englishman remains less than a win's worth of points 25 ahead.
